FOMO and trading apps: social discovery versus execution

A guide to the difference between finding social signals, evaluating a market, and executing a wallet-authorized trade.

FOMO is a social discovery surface for crypto activity. Its feed, alerts, profiles, trades, and leaderboards can help a reader find a theme or account, but they answer a different question from whether a wallet transaction is ready to review. The official FOMO site and its leaderboard explanation describe that discovery layer.

SUIBROKERS sits at a separate action and ledger layer. A reader should choose the surface that matches the next decision instead of treating social attention as execution evidence.

What each product is for

The leaderboard explanation describes time-window views such as 24-hour, 7-day, 30-day, and all-time activity, with profiles, trades, feeds, and metrics. Those views can help a reader discover accounts or investigate activity, but a leaderboard is not a recommendation or proof that a trade can be copied safely.

Current SUIBROKERS works at the action and ledger layer. A Swap quote comes from the current Bluefin 7K route and requires explicit wallet signing. The Desk shows provider-backed values and asks for an explicit deposit or withdrawal request. Partners tracks first-valid-referral attribution and verified invited activity. These are product-specific workflows, not social popularity scores.

Choose the right layer

Reader job FOMO SUIBROKERS
Discover an account or theme Social feed, profile, alerts, and leaderboards Broker, Farm, and product documentation
Execute a current action Follow the exact FOMO workflow and asset terms Sui wallet-signed Swap or Desk request
Control Check what the chosen FOMO feature actually authorises User reviews and signs the Sui transaction
Evidence FOMO profile, trade, and time-window data Chain confirmation plus SUIBROKERS ledger
Outcome Discovery and social metrics Verified activity, Points, or request state

A concrete example: you see an account with strong 7-day activity in FOMO and want to swap SUI for USDC. FOMO can be part of research, but it does not replace checking the asset, route, output, fee, minimum received, and slippage in SUIBROKERS Swap. You still connect the Sui mainnet wallet and approve only the transaction you reviewed. If the transaction confirms, SUIBROKERS verifies its own Points; a social metric does not create Points.

The same separation applies to The Desk. A social post about a vault is not a provider preview, a share metric, or a completed withdrawal. Open The Desk to inspect the current product and keep pending requests separate from settled cashflows.

The boundary is practical: use FOMO to discover and inspect a social signal, then use the relevant product’s own terms, quote, wallet prompt, and confirmed record for an action. A popularity metric can start a question; it cannot answer the execution question.
